Steps to Designing and Building a 3 Season Porch by Porch Life of Greater Charlotte NC

Decision Making Process for a 3 Season Porch

These homeowners were looking for a way to enjoy their beautiful back yard in the Greater Charlotte, NC area in the spring, summer and fall.  They had a flagstone patio at grade level and a raised stone patio but found they rarely used both of them because they had no cover or protection from weather, bugs, pollen and the hot sun in summer.  They contacted Porch Life to help them design and build a 3 season porch.

WeatherLite Porch Windows Selected for the Porch

There wasn't enough room below the second floor windows to offer the option of a gable roof so they opted for a flat rubber roof which allowed them to have a high 10' ceiling that would give their porch a large airy feel.  They also wanted to have the option of having a screened in porch but be able to close it up in inclement weather and when the pollen is so terrible in spring.  Porch Life offered them the WeatherLite Porch Windows.  These are 4 panel windows that can be opened all the way up or all the way down behind the railings offering 75% air flow which is almost as good as a fully open screened in porch.  You can see a video about these amazing windows by clicking here

Other Custom Features Selected to Complete the Porch

Porch Life used Cox Laminated Columns to construct this porch.  The advantage of these columns is that they are hollow and offer the possibility of hiding wires in the column and installing switches and outlets where needed.
Tile flooring was selected and provided a nice neutral feel that beautifully accented the homeowner's furniture selections.
Porch Life built a coffered ceiling with a stained pine ceiling accented by white beams.  Selected Lighting fixtures with ceiling fans gave the porch a relaxed nautical feel.
